Yahoo! Open Hackday 2008 in Taiwan.

We are very excited to announce that we’ve won the second prize in this event. Grateful thanks to the judges who likes our idea for having a fun product, RandomLife, it is a pleasure and honored to be in this event.

RandomLife is a bingo machine generator. Whenever you find yourself failed to decide among many options, you can use this machine to randomly choose one. Or you can play bingo created by other users. It can help you decide your dinning plan, next movie to see, what to do in the weekend besides hacking, or anything else. It is now available online at bingo.handlino.com, let’s have fun together!.

Last weekend, Handlino fully participated the Yahoo! Open Hackday event in Taipei Y17 Center. It was a 2-day hackathon event. The topic is to use Yahoo API service.

We’ve integrated the following Yahoo! services (some of whichs are Taiwan-only) into RandomLife:

• Yahoo! Lifestyle+
• Yahoo! Knowledge+
• Yahoo! Movies
• Yahoo! Stock
• Yahoo! Bid
• Yahoo! Blog
• Flickr
• Wretch Hot albums

Some of them are fetched with official Web API, some of them we figured out on our own. It has been quite a difficult task but we still decide to do all of them.

Sadly our table is right in front of a huge speaker, but that does not stop us hacking. This is an interesting event after all. We would like to see more hackathon event and products coming from Yahoo! (we really wanted to implement one-click Yahoo! Bid items in our Bingo UI, but we didn’t have time to figure out how.)
